A Hidden Album is similar to a private album, however, you can still share the pictures. Setting up a hidden album will allow you to upload pictures to share with your friends, but keep everyone else out.

Step 1: To create a Hidden Album click “Add Album” from the main page of your Album.

NOTE: If you already have an album created that you want to make private skip step 2

Step 2: Give your new Album a name, for instance “hidden.”

Step 3: Navigate to the album you want to hide and click “Edit Album.”

Step 4: Click the “General” tab.

<img id="image23" src="http://www.snapshothost.com/weblog/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/3.gif"" alt="2.gif" border="1"/>

Step 5: Click the “Hidden” check box in the “Hide Album” section.

<img id="image23" src="http://www.snapshothost.com/weblog/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/4.gif"" alt="2.gif" border="1"/>

To test and make sure this Album is hidden click the “guest” link on the page.

Once in the guest view you shouldn’t be able to see your newly created Album. Enter the direct URL to the new album you created (example: http://www.snapshothost.com/users/demo/hidden). You should be able to see all the images in this album now. Other visitors to the site won’t be able to navigate to this folder but you can send the URL out to friends and they will be able to view all the images.

Step 1: To create a Private Album click “Add Album” from the main page of your Album.

NOTE: If you already have an album created that you want to make private skip step 2

Step 2: Give your new Album a name, for instance “private.”

Step 3: Navigate to the album you want to make private and click “Edit Permissions.”

Step 4: Remove all the “Group Permissions.”

Your “Group Permissions” section should look like this now:

To test and make sure this Album is private click the “guest” link on the page.

Once in the guest view you shouldn’t be able to see your newly created Album. Now start uploading pictures to that Album and no one will be able to browse to them!

After a couple years of sitting on the domain and a built from scratch photo hosting site about 85% complete and not getting anymore work done on it. The decision was made to change the backend to Gallery 2. After a couple weeks of tweaks to the core install the beta test was launched today. A Demo Album was created to show all the different themes and color packs available. Basic accounts come with 20MB of storage space and the ability to hotlink to any site on the net. Unlike other hosting sites that lock down your images so they can’t be useful. Sign up today and see the difference Snapshot Host can make in your online photo sharing life!
